"Ok yeah we'll figure something out just shoot me an e-mail"
shoot you an e-mail? what is that? why does everyone say that? I don't like it never have and I probably never will. that is unless I'm in a job interview and my boss were to use the phrase then of course I would tell him that I would shoot him an e-mail no prob.
Bottom line is if you know anything about the History of the Internet you would know that you can't actually shoot an e-mail. Because of Packet Switching the e-mail is broken up into smaller easier to send "packets" then put back together once they reach their destination.
FYI I learned that in one of my comm tech classes I learn alot of interesting things in my classes everyday also I have never skipped a lecture in my college career combine that with perfect attendance in High School (except for those four days of school that Pam made me go to Disney World back in 2002. but for the record I was healthy all four of those days) and boom I am what scientists would consider to be a "fountain of knowledge"
But I digress point being if you are going to send an e-mail to me I'd prefer you not use the term shoot me an e-mail also that I eat so much fast food packed with preservatives that my body has adapted and formed a new preservative state thus allowing me to never be sick or ill. and thats just simply science.

In the infamous words of Josh Edgell, "Lets take this baby into the stratosphere".
I believe that there may be another instance where you would gladly "shoot someone an email." If some georgous dame had been flirting with you all night, and had recently broken her cell phone but was waiting for another one, she might write down her email address for you and ask that you "shoot her an email."
ReplyDeleteAll in all though, I think you are right. People have been doing this with email since its inception, and I'm as perplexed by it as you are. Before that though, people used to say, "drop me a line." What's that about?
drop me a line... you make a damn good point Dicken
