Casual Friday - Adam

People always seem to put a lot of stock in what the "what do you do?" question. your job seems to define who you are in America. How much money you make is more impressive than how happy you are.

I live by two sayings (when it comes to jobs):
  1. Love your job and you'll never work a day in your life
  2. It is called work for a reason
Now there are 168 hours in a week. 40 of them I will spend at work 56 of them I will spend asleep. and the remaining 72 hours in a week I will spend doing whatever the hell I want to do.

why would my job be the most important of those 3 things when it is the one I spend the least amount of time doing? I sleep more in a week than I do work.

But the thing about society that bothers me the most is the more uncomfortable the clothing, the more dressed up you are.

why can't society flip that so that gym shorts and a t-shirt is the fanciest thing you can wear? and that collars and ties are for suckers.

its a cruel thing to do to us forcing us to get all dressed up because someone once said if you wear this then you are apparently more fancy than if you don't.

  1. I agree with you about the clothes thing...but your two sayings appear to be at odds with one another. How do you follow both of them?
