So I'm loosely following the SOCCER world cup and as I am watching Germany beat the crap out of Argentina I start thinking to myself "why don't we call Germany Deutschland?"
my name is Adam, if I go to a different country my name is still Adam, no matter where I am or what I am doing my name is pronounced and still is...Adam.
If the people of Deutschland call it Deutschland...why do we call it Germany? its not ours to name their country their name.
now I know what you are going to say: "Deutschland is german for Germany" do you know who ridiculous that sounds? if anything Germany should be english for Deutschland.
Bottom line is I think we should call every country what the native people call it because it is their country. "Adam we don't have the chinese characters to spell China" that is fine we should pronounce it the same and spell it phonetically the best we can.
doesn't that make more sense?
"Hello my name is Adam"
"hmmm not here it isn't your name is Jim"
"...no I don't think my name changed because I'm standing somewhere else..."
"yeah it did that's how this works"
see that doesn't make sense to me nawmeen?
