Butler - Brian

Sorry for the delay in posts. That's what happens when you're in college and you have a 20 page paper due. Anyways...

Kudos to Butler for their run to the championship game. They earned it. It wasn't a "magical" run. They weren't a Cinderella story. They didn't get lucky.

Butler is no longer a mid-major, or even a high-major. They are a powerhouse team. Over the last 4 seasons, they have compiled a record of 118-22, reaching the Sweet 16 twice and the Championship game this year. That is more than some power conference teams can say they have done in the last 20 seasons.

Same goes for Gonzaga. Over the last 8 seasons they have gone 210-53, with two Sweet 16 appearances. Some "power" teams would love to match that success. So how can they be considered a mid-major? Or even a high-major?

Xavier might be the best example (outside of Butler's run this year) of "mid-major" success. They have a 224-79 record over the last nine seasons, making the Sweet 16 four times, and the Elite 8 twice.

Basically, these teams are more deserving of the label of power teams than most teams in power conferences. So please, stop calling them mid-majors. It's disrespectful.
