High Rock - Adam

I don't know exactly when it happened but it did happen and I don't like it.

Pound the Rock as people call it seems to have taken over the High Five and it kills me.

I don't like pounding the rock its awkward and slow and there is no reward at the end (unless you follow through explode, back fire, jellyfish, or pac man).

The high five is exciting fast and you receive a loud and satisfying reward "clap" if done properly.

I try to live my life by these three simple rules:
  1. High Five for the guys
  2. Low Five for the ladies
  3. Down Low, too Slow for the jerks
Since I seem to be the last of a dying bread when faced with a rock I usually "Ball-and-Socket" but that just causes discomfort on both ends and no one wants that.

I have a strong feeling that the fist pound is a temporary fad and years from now we will look back at it and laugh at how stupid it was to do (like giving the peace sign is now. I'm not talking about the sideways peace sign I mean straight up Mario Style peace sign)

So once everyone out grows this rock pound stage I'll be waiting with one hand in the air

  1. "...last of a dying bread..."

Thanks so much for that spelling error, pretty much made my day.

I completely see where you're coming from on this but I'm a fan of the "pound the rock" but I also have to follow through with the explode otherwise it is rather lame. Though I'm much more apt to greet others as well as say goodbye with a hug than a high five or any of the like.

  2. I completely agree with you, high fives are much better and will never be a passing fad.

However, I take some issue with the video that you linked. No jumping high tens?! I live for those, my roommate and I practice them regularly. No windmills either?? That's just sad. I trust though that you were just providing a link with opinions that didn't necessarily match your own so we'd have all the information available. I'd hate to think of you living your life with no high tens.

  3. oh I'm a big windmill advocate, when done properly, both the windmill and the 10 can be a thing of beauty to behold
