Sometimes I think people need to take a step back and get a glimpse of the bigger picture.
Last Thursday Bryan Stow was beaten severely.
Hate crime?
Cheating with another man's wife?
Steal?
Break any law whatsoever whether it be ethical or judicial?
Nope the man was a fan of the Giants and the attacker was a Dodgers fan.
How does something like this even begin to form in someone's mind? How is it the attacker not considered a psychopath? The fact that this person can get so anger and has such a distorted view of life that he can actually physically harm another human beings simply based on the fact that the person is a fan of a different sports team!
Does this not sound like the Nazi party? Or the KKK or the Crusades? Or today's Muslim extremest? The only difference is this isn't religion or race it isn't even age or gender it is a sports team!?
I know I've talked about how warped our minds are and how out of order our priorities can get when talking about sports.
How can we stop this? What needs to happen? How many more people are going to get hurt over a GAME it is a GAME you don't have any reason to physically emotionally mentally or any other form of harm a person over a GAME.
We are getting so polarized and angry to the point where if you disagree with me whether it be politically, religiously, or in sports It is unacceptable. WHY? When did this happen and how do we get back to having our own opinions and respecting other people for theirs? CALM DOWN everyone needs to just CALM DOWN take a step back and realize your fist is about to hit someone because the color of the baseball cap they are wearing is different than yours. Bryan Stow has children Bryan Stow is a father, a husband, a son... Is your team worth jeopardizing not just one man's life but the lives of all of those around him?
THE DODGERS WON THE STUPID GAME!? What do you want from him? Everybody calm down stop being so selfish and learn to realize that there are other people on Earth. That this universe doesn't revolve around you. That maybe someone has a different perspective than you and it is ok! Do we need to start teaching how to listen and respect someone else's opinion in elementary school?
Just stop and think that Michigan fan you are about to bash is truly loved by God no exceptions. Luke 12:7

I completely agree with this post and it is something that bothers me. Last football season a CHILD was tackled by a grown man because he was wearing a jersey of the opposite team. I don't find any problem in some healthy trash talk between friends regarding their different sports teams. However like you said people need to leave it at that and calm down. Over all very good post!
ReplyDeleteGreat post man. Way to honor Bobo's birthday with a post worthy of the shark. - Alan
ReplyDeleteAmen.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't disagree anymore. Sports are not just GAMES as you have said. Being a sports fan is a lifestyle. We tend to overreact to these kind of unfortunate events. I'm not advocating that every fan go beat up another fan of the opposite team after the event, but do NOT lose that passion. It fuels the industry, and fans that care about their team should be able to express it. If you think the states are bad you should go to Europe where they form gangs based on football(soccer) clubs and beat the crap out of each other after each match. It's sports. It's life. And God may love Michigan fans (still not sure if I agree on that) but I better not run into one into the parking lot.
