Terrelle Tressel - Adam

FIRE HIM...
AND FIRE HIM NOW!

JT has got to go. get rid of him now.
We need to drop Tressel and hire Urban Meyer.
Yeah I said it and honestly I don't regret it at all and if anyone disagrees with me it's because you are either a Fichigan fan or pulling a Tressel (lying).

Urban said he would only coach at 3 places: Notre Dame, Fichigan, or THE Ohio State University. Seeing as how the former two just reloaded with brand new coaches I don't see those opening up anytime soon and since JT is in hot water and his sTATistically best players won't be on the field for the first five games. He needs to be let go.

Urban won double the championships in half the time JT has been at OSU. And the same amount of Heisman winners.

Do you remember Tressel's 100th win? Well the NCAA won't once all of last year's season gets vacated. Hopefully Jim won't get to relive that milestone with the Buckeyes.

I've mentioned before that JT has trouble with the big wins and I don't think Urban has that same problem.

I am tired of being guilty by association with these fans.

Kirk Herbstreit probably the most famous and well respected Buckeye Alumn (next to me) even had to move because people could not leave him alone and let him do his job
You ever hear of anyone else having to move their family...not because they pulled a Steve Bartman or anything like that but for being a fan, just not a BIG enough fan... wow way to go guys.

Same thing goes for Bruce Hooley. You hire a guy for his opinions and to get listeners then he tells his opinion and gets listeners so they fire him. Why? because he dare question the almighty Jim Tressel.

Even Spielman agrees we ought to axe the cheating liar. We have to, like Brian mentioned! I don't see anyone attacking Speilman for saying these things Hooley was the scapegoat and firing a radio host doesn't make Tressel an alright guy.

Oh Adam give him a second chance...haven't you ever made a mistake? Oh he's a good guy he just messed up one time and it was for the children...always for the children.” Save it you buckeye blinded fanatics! I would give him a second chance but I won't give him a 377th chance.

please read that entire article when you click the 377th link and honestly afterward comment on this post that you think Jimmy should stay at Ohio State. I dare you.

Now on to the Overrated:
Terrelle, this 21 year old kid has single handedly ruined my favorite college football team and ala mater possibly forever. So you think this guy is so great I will show you what I show everyone who says this kid deserves 8 heismans (so he can sell 6 of them)
Allow me to show you his sTATistics without the garbage MAC games. Let's take a look at how TP does against only top 25 teams and then seasons without MAC games:

Passing: 149/242 1967yrds 61% 13.2avg 17 TD 11 INT
Rushing: 117 Carries 652yrds 5.5avg 3 TD

I could live without 11 interceptions in 12 games. I can live without -19 yards rushing against Indiana or -2 against Purdue. If you are one of those guys who says “sTATs don't tell the whole story” then I would encourage you to watch TP throw a football watch Dane bail the guy out making incredible catches and getting smeared across the field for it. Watch TP run backwards 30 yards scrambling and just by lack of athletics from the defense manage to get a 5 yard gain from it. Do it give him the “eyeball test” he won't pass it. We need to drop both of them and we need to do it now. Everyone in America is looking at the buckeyes right now and they are shaking their heads.

Take off the buckeye blinders please!

Rest The Vest - Brian

Ohio State needs to make an important decision in the near future. What's more important - their integrity and pride of their school or their football record versus Michigan?

That is the decision facing AD Gene Smith as he decides what to do with Jim Tressel. As most of you have undoubtedly heard by now, The Vest is facing so very serious allegations by the NCAA. The NCAA does not take to kindly to being lied to and mislead. Just ask Dez Bryant and Bruce Pearl.

Bryant was suspended for almost his entire senior season and Pearl was suspending for numerous games and eventually fired. Both because they lied to the NCAA about violations.

Tressel lied to the NCAA about major violations.

Ohio State fans will probably want to keep Tressel, the man who has won over 80% of his games at Ohio State and is a sterling 9-1 versus hated rival Michigan. He is one of the best coaches in the game, and before this mess was considered one of the most respected men in all of college sports. He even wrote a book called "The Winner's Manual," which instructed people on how to win at life. Duly noted, Tressel.

Unfortunately for Tressel, Ohio State is more than it's football team. The school has an obligation to itself and its students and alumni to do right by the school.

That means firing Jim Tressel.

Ohio State's athletics reflect on the school as a whole, and the coaches have the obligation to living up to the schools high standards of integrity. Tressel failed dramatically in that category.

Some people might argue that this whole situation is overblown, that it's "just" football. But fans of the sport know how important football is, especially to the schools whom are represented by the team. If Ohio State is willing to let a liar and cheater lead its flagship team, what else are they willing to do to succeed?

All of these doubts can be answered by one simple action - fire The Vest.

Prove to us that your school is about more than winning football games.

Because this situation is about more than beating the Wolverines.

It's about doing what's right.

Quoth Nevermore – Adam

First and foremost I cannot begin to tell everyone who reads this how awesome comments are to Brian and I...if you read our stuff and have a thought do not hesitate to comment. along with that please real free to follow the blog on the right hand side of the page. Again you don't know how awesome that is for us. now without further adieu...

Quotes really confuse me. Now I do understand quoting scripture because that is truth and the Bible is the living word. But quoting celebrities or famous people of the past really makes me scratch my head.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.

You think hmm that is an interesting little sentence. Then I lower my brow look at you and say...Abraham Lincoln said that. Suddenly the quote is really meaningful. Wow honest Abe?! That's DEEP! Is it though? Is it? and people sometimes live by stuff people just say...so my two questions are:

1) Why do we care what famous people say?
What does it matter what Marilyn Monroe said 60 years ago? Who is Marilyn Monroe? Is her life more valuable than anyone else's? I feel like to settle arguments sometimes people find a quote by a famous person that pertains to the subject and that is the final blow in their argument... oh yeah well Albert Einstein said this (insert quote) and the other person in the debate now must end all arguments because I mean let's face it if Al said it then its law. (or any other celeb)

2)What does it take to become a person whom everyone cares about what they've said?
At what point does a person become popular enough so that what they say is important? If you were in an argument and quoted me from this blog would that help your case? Of course it would instantly but if you were to quote a random person's blog people would laugh at you and say who is that why do I care what that person thinks? But then if you quoted some famous writer like Bill Shakespeare then all of the sudden you've got yourself a very interesting point. So I ask at what point does someone go from worthless blog to insightful columnist?

To me quotes are quotes whether I am reciting something from Super Bad or Hamlet, from Ben Franklin or Charlie Sheen it's all just words vomited out of some person's mouth.

Expect Great - Brian

Adam so graciously posed this question to me the other day - who would win in a game: the five best high school basketball players or the five best WNBA players.

Let's take a quick look at the rosters of the two teams:

High School Team
G - Austin Rivers 6'4 189
G - Bradley Beal 6'4 205
F - Anthony Davis 6'10 200
F - Michael Gilchrist 6'7 210
F - James McAdoo 6'8 216

WNBA Team
G - Diana Taurasi 6'0 183
G - Cappie Pondexter 5'9 175
F - Tamika Catchings 6'1 185
F - Candace Parker 6'4 193
F - Tina Charles 6'4 193

First thing is first - I very easily could have made up all of the names for the WNBA team because I have never met an avid WNBA follower, but I assure you that I did my research. Those are indeed the five best WNBA players. The high school team is the top five recruits according to ESPN.com.

Let's look at a few key categories.

Size: Already, you will notice that the WNBA team would struggle in the size category. Their tallest player is as tall as the high school teams shortest player. This one is pretty easy to decide. Advantage - High School

Athleticism: Surprisingly, this one is a bit closer than you would expect. These WNBA players are quicker than you think they are. They have a little speed to them, and can break your ankles with a few of their moves. Plus, Candace Parker can dunk which shows her athleticism. However, the high school athletes (while not completely honed athletically due to poor conditioning and lifting at high schools compared to college and NBA) are probably a little more athletic. Slight Advantage - High School

Basketball IQ - This is where the WNBA starts making its case. For most of these high school players, they had at most five set plays. 90% of the time they had the ball in isolation and would create their own shots. While effective in high school, five players who only know iso plays would not do well against a set defense. WNBA players can't always work of isolations, and have a much more advanced knowledge of how to play basketball than the high school players. Advantage - WNBA

Shooting - One thing we must keep in mind is that the high school players are still HIGH SCHOOL players. If you have ever watched high school basketball, these kids rely more on their athleticism than they do anything else. Most of these players are not great shooters yet. The WNBA team has honed their shooting prowess effectively. With all that said, I still see this one being pretty even. Advantage - Push

Overall - The high school team holds advantages in most categories in terms of individual basketball - athleticism, size, quickness, etc. However, the greatest advantage for the WNBA is basketball IQ and team play. In a game like this, it would be five individuals (high school) versus a team (WNBA). In my mind, team play is greater than individual play. Great teams play as a TEAM, not as an individuals. In my honest opinion, I would take the WNBA team over the high schoolers, because they have more experience and truely understand how basketball is played. The high school team would be just too selfish and egocentric.

Team > Individuals

WNBA > High School

Days of Our Lives – Adam

April 19th, 2015

If I am blessed enough to live to that day is a pretty interesting day. Now I know what all of you in blog world are thinking “Adam I just checked interestingdays.com and they didn't have 04/19/15 on there so what's so interesting about it?” well blog world let me tell you:

April 19th, 2015 is the day I turn 10,000 days old.
Ten thousand days of sucking air in this sack of flesh! Now If I were to look at the 10,000 as a whole I'd say it's been pretty incredible I've gone from worthless baby (not even a person am I right Roe v. Wade fans?) to learning how to talk, walk, dress myself, drive a car, graduate both high school and college, and just recently I scheduled my own eye exam (for April 20th 2011)!

but I'm sure some of you when looking at your life from the 10,000 days perspective might think “ugh 10K days and I have done nothing!” mmmh you could probably make that argument if you were to compare yourself to any successful professional athlete ( I figured Cody would bring up Jamarbust Russell so I had to add the successful clause although some might say making 40 mill and not having to workout or do anything could be a successful career). Or if you compared your 10,000 to Brad Pitt's 10K. Look you can cut your 10K however you want to I'm just saying people who are 23 right now you've got about another 4 years before you hit 10K so if you want to make some changes feel free.

On September 4th, 2042 I will hit 20K now not only do I still have four years before I hit 10K but I have no idea if I will even make it to 20K or what I will have done. Here is when I could see people making the argument that you wasted 10 thousand days. In the first 10 you went from birth to career (American majority speaking) then in the second 10 you got into a groove of work 5 rest 2 so really the 10K is cut to 2,857 days. I know some will say “I got married, bought a house, and had children” which is great! I'm just saying be ready for sometime when you're 54 you'll hit the 20K mark.

Lastly is the 30K mark on January 20th 2070. This set of 10K is from 54 to 82...probably not doing much...retiring, watching grandchildren, waiting for death... I guess my point is that if someone was to live to 36,525 days they would have lived 100 years or if you live for 30K days you've lived a solid 80 something. So don't give me this junk about live being too short. Life isn't too short if you can go from not being a person to graduating college in 10k and the majority of Americans are given 2 more sets of 10K then it isn't anyone's fault that you “wasted” them when you look back and sign saying “ah life is just too short” Let this blog post smack you in the face and yell “no it isn't you just wasted it by getting into a groove or habitual life style!

This isn't a "carpe diem" post this is a "I better not hear anyone say life is too short" post because it isn't you just wasted yours.

The Black Mamba - Brian

Kobe Bryant.

Greatest NBA player ever?

Alright, let's be honest - he isn't the greatest NBA player ever. That's Michael Jordan, hands down. That can not be debated. And if you debate it, then you clearly know nothing about basketball.

But how about Kobe for second greatest? Third? Fourth?

At the very least, Kobe has to be fifth or sixth all time. If he wins the title this year? He would be pretty damn close to third or fourth.

He has the career stats to back it up: 15 seasons, 25.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.7 APG, 46%F, 6th most points all time, etc.

He also has 5 NBA championships and one MVP. He should arguably have more than one MVP (2002-03, 2005-06, 2006-07). He has a legitimate chance to win more than 6 rings and has a shot at ending his career as the all time leading scorer.

He may not have been the best teammate in the world, but listen to any story about Michael Jordan and you will quickly learn that he wasn't the best teammate either. You may also say something like "Kobe couldn't win one on his own! He needed Shaq and then Pau Gasol!" Name me one NBA superstar who "won one on his own?" Jordan had Pippen (top 20 all time) and Rodman (top 60 all time). Bird had McHale and Parrish. Magic Johnson and Kareem had each other. The list goes on and on.

And yet with Kobe being such a bad teammate, he has still won 5 rings. That is more than anyone but Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, and Kareem (and I am only counting those who are in the running for greatest ever - aka I am not counting Satch Sanders and his 8 rings while riding the coattails of Russell).

Kobe is also one of the greatest because he has evolved as a player. Some players live off one move or their athleticism until they lose it and stop being a great player. The true greats evolve their game and add a number of moves that can't be stopped. Jordan did it. Kobe is still doing it. Also, Kobe has been named to 8 first team all defensive teams, second to MJ and Gary Payton.

Kobe has shown endurance, scoring prowess, defensive dominance, and the ability to win. What more do you need?

So is he the greatest ever? No.

Does he have a chance to finish his career anywhere between second and fifth? Absolutely. And for my honest projection? I have him finishing third.

Quitmitment - Adam

A Man Is Only As Good As His Word

If this is the case then we are not very good.
What happened to the old days when men had commitment?
The new motto for men is:
When The Going Gets Tough... Quit

50% percent of first marriages, 67% of second and 74% of third marriages end in divorce
People change their career around 10 times throughout their life
students attending two-year community colleges have a 12 percent graduation rate.
four-year public state colleges have approximately a 33 percent graduation rate.
four-year, private colleges have approximately a 56 percent graduation rate.
12.9 million families in the U.S. were headed by a single-parent
80% of which were headed by a female.

So where are all the spines of men?
When did it become acceptable for men to dip out on commitments?
How many times have you told someone you were going to be somewhere or do something and then “forgot” to do it and that be perfectly alright with you? It shouldn't be it really should bother you. The the path of least resistance is the most popular but rarely, if ever, is it the way to do anything.
63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes (US Dept. Of Health/Census) – 5 times the average.

90% of all homeless and runaway children are from fatherless homes – 32 times the average.

85% of all children who show behavior disorders come from fatherless homes – 20 times the average. (Center for Disease Control)

80% of rapists with anger problems come from fatherless homes --14 times the average. (Justice & Behavior, Vol 14, p. 403-26)

71% of all high school dropouts come from fatherless homes – 9 times the average. (National Principals Association Report)

75% of all adolescent patients in chemical abuse centers come from fatherless homes – 10 times the average. (Rainbows for All God’s Children)

70% of youths in state-operated institutions come from fatherless homes – 9 times the average. (U.S. Dept. of Justice, Sept. 1988)

85% of all youths in prison come from fatherless homes – 20 times the average. (Fulton Co. Georgia, Texas Dept. of Correction)

The world needs men not cowards, not selfish spinless jellyfish MEN. I'm not talking about James Bond types I'm talking about Howard Langston. I'm talking about guys that own up to whatever they do. I'm talking about Men who make commitments and follow through. There doesn't seem to be any consequences or penalties for guys who run and cower. Shouldn't there be something in every man's heart, in every man's being, that says I need to keep my word? Stop running when stuff doesn't go your way stick it out, play with the cards your dealt, roll with the punches, and for once think about someone other than yourself.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Dollars and Sense - Brian

This whole collective bargaining dispute between the NFL owners and players is ridiculous. It's a shame that the fans have to suffer the most because the billionaires can't agree with the millionaires. Eventually, they will agree and both sides will receive billions of dollars.

As a preface, I disagree with both sides on this issue. They are both being a little overly selfish. They both have good points and arguments, but they are handling the entire situation poorly.

With that said, I want to comment on one of the more ridiculous arguments people have said in favor of the players.

I have heard countless amounts of analysts and fans argue that the NFL isn't doing a good enough job of providing health care for the players after they retire. People argue that because football is causing long term injuries for the players, that the NFL should be responsible for all medical bills afterwards. I have even heard people say that the players don't have enough money to cover medical bills.

My argument is two-fold. First, the players know that long term injuries are possible for playing football. They KNOW this. They aren't ignorant. They are told of all of these medical problems that can happen. There is a reason they get paid millions of dollars to compete. It's partly because they are the best at what they do, partly because they provide entertainment for a multi-billion dollar business, and also because they are putting themselves in harms way.

You are more than welcome to tell a rookie that he will probably not live past 50, and how many will turn down the money and the chance to play? None. They know. Trust me.

The second facet is even more ridiculous. Players don't have enough money to cover their medical bills after they retire? Oh I'm sorry that you couldn't save some of that $40 million contract. Maybe instead of buying a 14 bedroom house when you live alone, you could try a 10 bedroom house? Or instead of having 9 cars, perhaps cut it down to 5? If average Americans can save money and live modestly, why can't an NFL player pay for medical bills when he retires?

You're counter argument will probably be "Well what about the players who get paid the minimum contract!" You mean the ones who still make $340,000 a year? The average amount of time in the NFL for minimum contract players is less that three full seasons. That isn't enough time for them to sustain super serious life long injuries. These guys probably played four years of high school football and four years of college, but you don't hear anyone crying for the NCAA or OHSAA to foot the medical bills.

Look, I understand that the owners could fork over some money to pay for some medical bills. But it's not like the players are struggling THAT much with money. For either side to hold up negotiations over something like this is insulting to fans.

Last time I checked, the fans are the reason the NFL is so successful.

But the again I'm biased - I'm a fan.

Reality Check – Adam

Sometimes I think people need to take a step back and get a glimpse of the bigger picture.

Last Thursday Bryan Stow was beaten severely.

Hate crime?
Cheating with another man's wife?
Steal?
Break any law whatsoever whether it be ethical or judicial?

Nope the man was a fan of the Giants and the attacker was a Dodgers fan.

How does something like this even begin to form in someone's mind? How is it the attacker not considered a psychopath? The fact that this person can get so anger and has such a distorted view of life that he can actually physically harm another human beings simply based on the fact that the person is a fan of a different sports team!

Does this not sound like the Nazi party? Or the KKK or the Crusades? Or today's Muslim extremest? The only difference is this isn't religion or race it isn't even age or gender it is a sports team!?

I know I've talked about how warped our minds are and how out of order our priorities can get when talking about sports.

How can we stop this? What needs to happen? How many more people are going to get hurt over a GAME it is a GAME you don't have any reason to physically emotionally mentally or any other form of harm a person over a GAME.

We are getting so polarized and angry to the point where if you disagree with me whether it be politically, religiously, or in sports It is unacceptable. WHY? When did this happen and how do we get back to having our own opinions and respecting other people for theirs? CALM DOWN everyone needs to just CALM DOWN take a step back and realize your fist is about to hit someone because the color of the baseball cap they are wearing is different than yours. Bryan Stow has children Bryan Stow is a father, a husband, a son... Is your team worth jeopardizing not just one man's life but the lives of all of those around him?

THE DODGERS WON THE STUPID GAME!? What do you want from him? Everybody calm down stop being so selfish and learn to realize that there are other people on Earth. That this universe doesn't revolve around you. That maybe someone has a different perspective than you and it is ok! Do we need to start teaching how to listen and respect someone else's opinion in elementary school?

Just stop and think that Michigan fan you are about to bash is truly loved by God no exceptions. Luke 12:7

Long Live the King - Brian

Let's play my favorite game - blind stats...

Player A - 26.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 7.1 APG, 50%FG, 27.2 Player Efficiency Rating,
Team Record: 54-23

Player B - 24.7 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 8.0 APG, 44%FG, 23.0 Player Efficiency Rating
Team Record: 56-20

Now if I asked you to pick which player deserves the MVP this year, you would probably go with Player A. At the very least, it could be considered almost a push.

Well, if you haven't already guessed, Player A is LeBron James and Player B is Derrick Rose. Most people have already anointed Rose as the MVP season, and I tend to question why.

Most people don't want to give LeBron the MVP for two main reasons. The first being his ill fated "decision" over the summer. People still haven't gotten over that and feel like LeBron doesn't deserve the MVP because of some sort of karmic retribution. The second reason is that it would give LeBron three consecutive MVP's, something that only Larry Bird, Bill Russell, and Wilt Chamberlain have done. How could LeBron be included in that hallowed group?

Everyone will point to Rose leading Chicago to the East's number 1 seed, and how he carried the Bulls with Boozer and Noah injured. But Rose hasn't been as important to his team as LeBron has been to his team. EWA (estimated wins added) calculates how many wins a players adds to his team over a league average player. Basically, if Player X has a 15 EWA, and you replaced him with an average player, the team would lose 15 wins.

LeBron is first in the league with a 24.1 EWA, while Rose brings a 17.8 EWA to the table. So LeBron is worth 6.3 more wins to his team that Rose. This shows that LeBron is more important to his team than Rose.

Statistically, LeBron is also putting up more impressive numbers in every category except assists, in which he is behind Rose by less that one assist per game.

Personally, I think LeBron once again deserves the MVP. I would have no problem if Rose won it, but I feel as though LeBron is more deserving of a candidate.

Unfortunately people need to start getting used to the fact that LeBron will probably end up as one of the 20 best players ever.

The King still Reigns.
